It was a long day at work. It was slow enough, that if we had the people that we could’ve gotten a lot done. We had two call offs, which both had very good valid reasons but it makes it harder to get things done. I have a bigger staff tomorrow, so fingers crossed we will get a ton done.
I’m very saddened to here that Ed Bradley of 60 Minutes has passed. I’ve always enjoyed watching his work, his smoothness, his class. And I loved the fact that he wore an earring where many men of his age didn’t. It always symbolized to me that he was always a rebel searching for the truth.
His style of reporting will be greatly missed. =(
Well, the dems gained more seats then I thought they would in the house and it looks as they may gain the senate……..we shall see.
It was great to see Rumsfeld step down. When retired generals and the Army News have issues with your leadership………you are doing more harm then good.
We still have 2 more yrs of W………….so we’ll see what happens.
Today was a day off and I actually got a few things done, laundry, vacuuming, blue-berry muffins, did some errands and started to explore options for getting some work done on my blog.
Right now we are watching LOST, it is the last episode for the fall season. =( We are going to have to wait a few months for the next one.
Tomorrow is an early day at work, so I’m going to close and get ready for bed.
I hope everyone reading this voted.
We are watching ABC for the election results. It doesn’t look as if the democrats will pick up the senate. But I’m not surprised there.
I’m a moderate…..I hate the extremes from both sides………yes, I am pro-choice, I’m a feminist and no one will tell me what to do with my body, but I also believe that I have the right to own and carry a gun. I’m liberal on tolerance, but conservative when comes to military issues.
I’m hoping that the dems at least pick up the house. Something to help balance the country. I was disappointed to see the Senator Chafee lose. The rep. party needs more candidates like him to pull them back from the extreme right.
It was also nice to see the dems get smart and run candidates that could actually put up a fight and possibly win in their district and in the process pulled themselves from the extreme left.
I was stunned to see 3 districts in Indiana be won by the dems……..wow. That is one red state. When there is blue, it is usually around Indy, Gary/East Chicago and Ft. Wayne area.
If you aren’t watching it………you need to watch comedy central for the Stewart/Colbert……..they are a frigging riot………….lol
In half of the states, tomorrow is election day. Some states, like Florida, had early voting. For those who didn’t take advantage of it……….vote!!!! I don’t care if you don’t agree with me politically (even though I’d rather have my candidates win……..lol) you need to vote. Get yourself heard.
I feel that you have no right to bitch about the state of things if you don’t get off your ass and vote. People have died and are still dieing for that right.
For being a “leader” and supposed spokes country in the world for the case of democracy, this country has some of the lowest turn out rates, even during a Presidential year. People in third world countries do a better job then we do when it comes to voting. And many of those people risk like and limb just get to the polls. So don’t be apathic, get off your ass and vote!!
Democracy only works when everyone is heard.
We started our day with a bike ride and then went off on our errands that we had. We finally got Torn a very needed new chair, clippers for our youngest cat and took care of a few other things. I was very pleased with what we got done.
I did get our receipts done! Yes, yes………that makes my life easier. I still haven’t gotten to our vacation pictures. I would have to be inside and hooked up to the hard drive….icks. I just want to be able to stay outside just a little longer…..grin So when I do go in for the news, I may start getting myself organized for it.
I found this very interesting video clip in MSNBC about the influence of Jon Stewart : http://video.msn.com/v/us/msnbc.htm?g=8dd52415-4d1c-4075-bfaa-b64f235c9dcb&f=00&fg=email
We did get a bike ride in today. We’ve gone for a ride the last 3 days. Today was a bitch for the ride. I had worked my ass off last night and did a ton of walking, so I was sore as hell today but I made it.
I didn’t get any work done today, but we did get about half our packing done. I’m fearful to gather the rest of the stuff…….where I am I going to put it all?!? icks
I have a work meeting to attend tomorrow. I have a 1-2 hr drive ahead of me, that part really doesn’t bother me, it is that I’m not familiar with the area. I so hope that I’m not late for it.

Battle Cries: For U.S. troops and their wives and children, the Iraq war’s invisible costs just keep on piling up
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld got a taste of this rage and frustration in August when he met with family members of the 172nd at Fort Wainwright, near Fairbanks, Alaska. In a video of the meeting obtained by NEWSWEEK, one woman asked him why the 172nd was spending most of its time clearing houses, instead of patrolling the streets in the relative safety of the big armored vehicles. “My husband hasn’t set foot in his Stryker since he arrived in Baghdad,” she said. “Over 90 percent of the house clearings are being handled by the Iraqis,” Rumsfeld responded, whereupon women in the audience began shouting “No!” and “That’s not true!” Flummoxed, Rumsfeld shot back, “No? What do you mean? Don’t say ‘No,’ that’s what I’ve been told. It’s the task of the Iraqis to go through the buildings.”
The 4-23’s soldiers say they, not the Iraqis, do 95 percent of the searches. “I’d like to punch [Rumsfeld] in the gut,” says one seasoned NCO on his second Iraq tour. “He treats us like we’re not human. He acts like he’s not destroying families.”
***Sounds like Rumsfeld is living in a bubble and doesn’t have a clue, but we knew that.
Study: Gulf War Syndrome Doesn’t Exist.
There is no such thing as Gulf War syndrome, even though U.S. and foreign veterans of the war report more symptoms of illness than do soldiers who didn’t serve there, a federally funded study concludes.
The ‘Lifestyle’ — Real-Life Wife Swaps
For once, a news organization did decent job on reporting on our lifestyle. They usually make it sound so sleazy and don’t even address the realtionships of the couples.
Evening, just been vegating out on my day off today. Got some sun on my back, a little too much. Lost myself in re-reading some fiction. Pretty much didn’t get much done other then a few emails. I really need to get my mind set back into work at home. My next 2 days off are together, so hopefully I can work on that.
I also need to get my mind set into our Seattle trip and pack on the personal hygene stuff.
We did our FFL draft last Friday. I got an ok team, could’ve been better.
Purdue won over Indiana St. (who are a division 2 team, so they better have). Ind. St. got on the board more then they should have. Unfortunately with being in Florida and it been a division 2 team we ad to read up on the game online. Sounds like our special teams need some work.
’Freakish’ Accident Kills Crocodile Hunter
It has been all over the news and the blogs. I couldn’t believe when Torn told me this morning. I wasn’t one for watching his show but enjoyed what I did see of him and what he did for wild life. He will be missed. =(
I swear, I had a lot more that I wanted to write about when I was thinking of things last night. But for the life of me I don’t have a clue of what they were……….lol So I guess this post was nothing but a babble.
A fellow webmaster has started a new board for politics. He would love for it to be a a good blend of all sides…………doesnt want it to be an all red or an all blue board. So if you would like to debate the issues of the day in an adult manner, without the narrow minded hatred check it out : DC Junkies
